Lickity-Split Lemon Bars

Lemony-Rich Dessert Bars


Ingredients Needed
1 box of lemon cake mix
1 stick of softened butter or melted butter
1 8 oz. block of cream cheese
3 eggs
1 box of powdered sugar
1 tsp of lemon extract or use real lemon juice to taste


Part 1
Mix 1 egg, cake mix, and 1 stick of butter until well incorporated.  Pour ingredients in to a 9 x 13 pan, forming a crust. Place in oven at 350 degrees and bake for 15 min. Remove from oven.
(Some like to just put in the oven one time, if so just omit that part, and once topping is poured, the baking time will be longer. Total baking time was about 40-45min. when I did mine)

Part 2
Mix 2 eggs, 1 (8) oz. block of cream cheese, 1 tsp of lemon extract or lemon juice, ¾ box of powdered sugar. Pour of over the previous crust from the oven and bake again at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until top looks set. Remove from oven and let cool. Use remaining powdered sugar to dust the top. (Optional)


Tip: Don’t be afraid of getting your crust a bit darker because this is a very decadent and moist dessert so it will not be dry but it does add a bit more stability when cutting, giving you magazine worthy results.  Enjoy!
