Shaken...Not Stirred
Shaken…Not Stirred
-James Bond
Can you see it?
Can you taste it? You know what I’m talking about…come on, say it! Ok, ok I’ll
say it for you this time…Amaretto Sour!!!! YAAAAAAAY!!! *crickets chirping* what is wrong with you people?! Do you kiss
your mother with that mouth?! What? You thought I was going to say a martini?
C’mon you cheeky chaps *in my very best
British accent* Listen, I may not be a regular drinker but it don’t take no
rocket scientist to know you need some steel hoo-has to deal with a martini,
& they are seriously over rated if you don’t like the taste of straight
liquor. Now myself, I prefer a more
fruity taste, without it being too sweet, which is often times the case when
dealing with mixed drinks. Now as a past,
part-time bartender, I will bestow my expertise upon you. *I say this is the snootiest way possible* The reason I chose
amaretto sour as my favorite drink is because it provides you with the perfect balance
of sweet & sour, with the earthy undertones from the amaretto. As I have said before, I am always searching
for new things, and looking for the twists that people have put on existing
things. I don’t know if any of you have
ever had your amaretto sour made using an egg as one of the ingredients, but I
was totally blown away that someone was desecrating my favored drink with such
a disgusting thing (I loathe eggs). So anyway, after watching this guy massacre
this drink, I put my cape on (because let’s face it, I’m a superhero) and
whooshed to my computer, to save all of you from this toxic waste. Without further ado, I give you my favorite
adult beverage. *drops the mic, exits stage left*
Amaretto Sour
1 ½ -2oz. Amaretto
3-4 oz. Sweet &
Sour Mix
1 tsp. of Grenadine
1 Cherry for garnish
(optional, but it’s soooo pretty)
**If you want to
impress your friends with this drink**
1. Pour
amaretto in glass first, THEN add ice
to about half way.
·
I recommend using a low ball glass (any glass
that is about that size will work)
2. Pour
sweet & sour mix in very slowly and towards the center of the glass
·
This will cause you to have two different colors
·
You can also pour the mix over the back of a
spoon (bartender’s trick)
·
Depending on personal tastes, you may not use
all 4 oz. of sweet & sour mix*
3. Pour
tsp. of grenadine from the center of the glass, outwards towards the edges
·
This will cause another layer of color
·
Because grenadine is heavier than the s&s
mix you will want to start at the center of the glass and then make a circle.
4. Place
a sliced cherry on the rim of the glass or you just drop one in whole
·
I prefer using maraschino cherries with the stem
attached
5. Serve
and enjoy!!!
***please drink responsibly***
