Dear John
Dear John
A Poem for Daddy
What is free
A thing upon which we
can never agree
That slips through
our fingers so tragically
It can’t be bought,
sold, or taught
It must be given
freely without thought
What manner of token
That leaves us either
whole or broken
What is so fleeting
That stops hearts
from beating
What is the world in
another’s eyes
That people openly
despise
What can cause such a
mystery
That it has journeyed
throughout history
Do you know this gift
from Above?
Who among us is
greater than LOVE?
I dedicate this to my Daddy, John Earl Hollis 10/16/57- 01/02/16, who
now rests with The Father, you truly will be missed.
